Online couples therapy in Edmonton—in Spanish and English
Therazon offers online couples therapy in Spanish and English for partners aged 18 and over in Edmonton and across Alberta. Sessions with Marilu Cardó G., M.A. Counselling Psychology, can include either language or both. Appointments are fully online, with a free 15-minute consultation to explore fit.
Couples work is not about choosing a winner. The relationship is the client, and our work centres the shared pattern, the hopes that brought you in, and the kind of next chapter you want to create together.

My approach
Relational support informed by evidence-based training
My couples work is informed by attachment and relational approaches and completed Level 1 and Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I adapt the process to the relationship rather than forcing every couple into the same formula.
Both partners participate as clients of the relationship. I do not take sides, and we review consent, records, communication outside sessions, confidentiality, and its limits before beginning.

Questions before you begin
Can sessions include Spanish, English or both?
Yes. Sessions are available in Spanish, English or a natural combination of both. You can discuss your language preferences during the free consultation.
What if we prefer different languages?
Tell me which language each of you feels most comfortable using during the free consultation. We can discuss whether the available Spanish and English format fits both partners before you book a paid appointment.
What happens at the first appointment?
If you start with the free 15-minute consultation, we discuss your questions, scope, logistics and fit; it is not a therapy session. Paid couples appointments last 80 minutes. Before beginning therapy, we review consent, records, communication outside sessions, confidentiality and its limits with both partners. Our work centres the patterns and shared goals that bring you in.
Can we discuss culture, immigration, parenting and family expectations?
Yes, within my scope of practice. We can explore how migration, changing roles, parenting differences and expectations from extended family influence recurring disagreements and shared decisions. Intercultural relationships are part of the couples support offered here.
How are suitability and safety considered?
Private safety screening may be required. Joint work is not appropriate when coercion or violence prevents free and safe participation. Concerns outside my current competence are referred to a more appropriate service. The consultation helps us discuss fit; it does not replace a clinical assessment.
